Who Pays The Highest Income Tax

Most people can take names of Bollywood actors and cricketers about who gets the highest income tax in the country. But many of the names of those disclosed by the IT department in response to an RTI have probably not been heard much earlier. In response to the question asked under Right to Information Act of RTI activist Subhash Agrawal, the Income Tax department has disclosed the taxpayers in various catagories including personal and trust. According to this, Shirin is an unknown person in the individual category, topped by tax payers. Kamal Spongi Steel and Power Director Kamaljit Singh Ahluwalia and Prashant Ahluwalia are among top 10 income tax payers in 'Personal category' for 2011-12 and they are at number two. These two directors are also in the circle of CBI probe in the coal scam. Similarly, South India's controversial lottery dealer Santino Martin is on seventh position in the tax payers.

According to the data of income tax department, Kadapa MP YS Jagmohan Reddy is at the third spot in 10 top income tax payers. According to statistics, Prashant Kumar Ahluwalia is ranked ninth in the list. Other top income tax payers in the individual category include Ramamurthy Praveen Chandra, Asim Ghosh, Indrani Patnaik, Mansur Nizam Patel and Bawihali RudraGowda in 2011-12.

The 10 top tax payers in the 'trust' category include the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). On the other hand, public sector ONGC and bank SBI are among the top tax payers in the 'Company' category. The Oil Industries Development Board is in the first place in the 'Artificial Juridical Person' category. Thereafter, Uttar Pradesh Housing and Development Council, DSP Blackrock Mutual Fund, North Bihar Rural Bank, Kolkata Port Trust, AP Rural Development Bank, Vadodara Uttar Pradesh Rural Bank, First Bank, Toyota Motors Corporation and Chhattisgarh Rural Bank respectively.
